TORQUE VALUES FOR C-4401 GASKETS

Suggested torque values for C-4401 ring gaskets for 150# AMSE / ANSI B16.5 pipe flanges

Remember that a gasket's ability to create and maintain a seal depends not only on the quality, thickness and compatibliity of the material, but also on the design of the joint. A gasket's capability is greatly dependent on how the gasket is assembled into the flange, the efficiency of the bolt up procedure and the amount of gasket stress achieved during assembly and operating conditions.

Notes:
* We suggest when ever possible, using thinner gaskets for smaller flange sizes.

The torque values are for the design pressures of 150# flanges (above torque values are based on 230 PSI @ 300º F). For other ANSI / ASME class flanges, different pressures or temperatures, and all steam applications, contact the Tampa Rubber Customer Service Department.

Also check the type and grade bolt, to see if your bolts can achieve the suggested torque values. Above values wee calculated with A193 B7 bolts with a coefficient of friction of 0.16.
